VJ and live visual scenes are constantly evolving and influencing each other. VJs are as important to the scene as visual artists, the same way as DJs and musicians.

Place of VJ performance is to be in front of the stage, their masterpiece, mixing visuals showing on the large screen behind a DJ or performer, to the beat of the music. You express your emotions not only through the screen but also with your own performance and attitude, and the audience feels that.
As DJ mixes the audio, VJ mixes visuals and deeply connected with the music.
In the end, the important is to create a unique visual experience for the audience.

Vjing Equipment:

Software set-up: GrandVJ or GrandVJ XT.
Both of them are easy to navigate and intuitive to use.
Regarding operating systems, they both run on Mac and Windows.
The main difference is that GrandVJ XT comes with LED and Video Mapper option.

Hardware set up: Our applications run macOS or Windows, you’ll need a computer with a video card to connect external screen, (more about the system requirements here ) and touchpad for live, or do live hand triggered with a MIDI controller. As an output, you can use an external monitor, a projector, or a LED display.

VJ Skills

There are no specific j requirements for this position. But we’ll mention a few important skills we believe VJ’s should have.

• Passion for music
  Since your main job will be to mix visuals and sync them with audio, you need to have some knowledge about the music industry, and follow the current trends.
• Technical skills regarding your tools
  Learn how to use the hardware and the software. There are more options on the market, some are more user friendly, and others are less. As we mentioned, we give a lot of effort for GrandVJ and GrandVJ XT to be as user friendly as possible.
• Creativity
  As we mentioned before, VJing is a form of art. Be creative, work on this skill, learn about the new ways to combine video, and other materials. Keep an open mind.

The skills you gain as a VJ are widely applicable, from concerts, gigs, installations, performances…really possibilities are endless.
